Angela Ward
Angela Ward has served as Program Manager of Elgin Eats for six years, driven by a simple but powerful conviction: everyone deserves to know where their next meal is coming from. What started as a passion to serve others has grown into a calling that shapes every aspect of the program. Angela finds her greatest joy in working alongside community members who share her vision—planning meals, coordinating volunteers, and building partnerships with people who believe, as she does, that no one in Elgin should go hungry.
She'll never forget the elderly lady who broke down in tears when he received his first Friday meal, confessing he hadn't eaten in two days but was too proud to ask for help. That moment crystallized everything for Angela: Elgin Eats isn't just about food—it's about dignity, community, and showing up for each other when it matters most. Looking toward the future, Angela dreams of the day when Elgin Eats can open a full soup kitchen, serving meals every single day of the week. "Hunger doesn't take weekends off," she says with quiet determination. "And neither should our compassion." Under Angela's leadership, Elgin Eats continues to grow, one meal and one relationship at a time, transforming her vision of a hunger-free Elgin into reality.
